GUWAHATI: The leadership of NSCN (IM) Thuingaleng Muivah will meet Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, next month to discuss Naga peace process.
The meeting has assumed significance as it is expected to thrash out a final settlement of the several decades old militancy problem of Nagaland.
Muivah, who is coming to India after almost three years, is expected to arrive in New Delhi on Saturday. New interlocutor RS Pandey has extended the invitation to the NSCN-IM leader.
According Union home secretary G K Pillai, who was in Dimapur to attend the special attestation parade of Assam Rifles Training Centre and School, said that Muivah will meet the Prime Minister and the home minister.
Mr Pillai said the demand for sovereignty and Naga integration will not feature in the dialogue.
However, there is no word of confirmation on the visit of NSCN chairman Isak Chisi Swu. Muivah will also have discussions with the interlocutor. Mr Pandey has recently replaced K Padmanabhaiah. Muivah is expected to visit Nagaland.
Meanwhile, the government of India and Myanmar will initiate coordinated military operations against militant outfits of Northeast taking shelter there. Mr Pillai held a meeting with his Myanmarese counterpart Brig Gen Phon Swe at the Myanmarese capital recently.
United National Liberation Front (UNLF), People s Liberation Army (PLA), the armed wing of the Revolutionary People s Front (RPF), NSCN(IM) and NSCN(K) are believed to be having camps in Myanmar.
