Lead Teacher for Foundation Program in Myanmar

The International Language & Business Centre (ILBC) in Yangon is looking for an experienced, qualified Lead Teacher with strong leadership and managerial skills. The objective of this position is to assist in the set up of a Foundation Program, opening July 2010. In the position you will be responsible for the development of the curriculum for the foundation program. You will also be required to maintain a standard of teaching quality, whilst also assessing and evaluating student performance continuously. The focus will be on maximising academic potential of a group of 20 students from ILBC and preparing them for Western Universities.

Requirements of the candidate:


  • Previous experience as a lead teacher in a foundation program.

  • Previous experience with the British IGCSE curriculum and testing system.

  • Ability to develop curriculum, manage staff and day ro day operations of a 1000 student school.

  • To be well-acquainted with TOEFL, IELTS and SAT material and testing systems, and have the ability to prepare students for relevant testing.

  • To be capable of counseling and guiding students for college and scholarship applications.

  • Must hold a Post Graduate degree with an emphasis on education management.

  • To be a dynamic and creative decision maker.

  • Must be a results driven individual, able to manage efficiendy and inspire those around you.

  • A good problem solver and the ability to cope in a crisis.

  • A demonstrated high level of commitment to teaching excellence.

  • Must be flexible, understanding, and committed to being a team player.


Salary and Benefits


Airfare: Economy air fare to and from home at beginning and end of the contract.
Accommodation: Rent-free furnished housing, includes basic furniture and Cooking utensils provided by ILBC.
Visa: Initially, the teacher will obtain a visa to travel and work in Myanmar, and the school will reimburse the cost of the visa. The school will provide airfares to Bangkok for visa renewal and cost of the visa, plus one night accommodation.
Vacation: 5 weeks paid annual vacation at the end of the year.
Sick leave: Ten days per academic year for sick leave. More than three consecutive days of absence will require a letter from the school doctor. Leave without pay can be granted at the discretion of the headmaster.
Health Insurance: Membership with International SOS Pry. Ltd.
