ENDP finalizes candidates at conference

24 August 2010: In a major step and in order to meet the Election Commission deadline, the Ethnic Nationalist Development Party (ENDP) has finalized candidates for the forthcoming 2010 general election at its conference in Lailenpi village, Matupi township, Chin state western Burma on from August 12 to 13.

“Conference participants have nominated Pu Sang Hlei Mang, Pu Van Cing and Pu Hla Mang as candidates of the upper house through voting,” said a college student in Matupi Township.

Pu Sang Hlei Mang is an advisor to the Mara youth students union and is a graduate. Pu Van Cing is a leader of Mara People’s Party since the 1990 general elections and is a school dropout. Pu Hla Mang was also one of the candidates for the 1990 general elections from Matupi township constituency no. 2. He is a businessman.

“There were 80 representatives, who attended the conference and selected candidates,” he added.

The selected ENDP leaders are Pu Hipa - president, Pu Van Cing - vice-persident, Pu Ni Lyin - general secretary, Pu Sang Hlei mang - assistant secretary, Pu Lam Bawi – secretary. There are eight members.

The villagers of Lailenpi arranged a feast with meat of bulls and pigs for the participants at the party conference. The Ethnic Nationalist Development Party (ENDP) was floated by the Mara ethnic group in Paletwa, Matupi and Thantlang townships in Chin state.

Meanwhile, the Chin Progressive Party (CPP) also selected its candidates for the forthcoming elections in Chin state. – Khonumthung News.
