28 June 2011: An international actress Michelle Yeoh, who plays the character of Burma's democracy leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi in a forthcoming Hollywood biopic film The Lady, was deported from Yangon's internatioal airport last Wednesday.

The hollywood actress, 48, arrived in Rangoon, the former capital of Burma, on 22 June and was sent back on the same day, according to sources.

An official was quoted as saying that the Malaysian actress was deported on the same day because she was on a blacklist of Burma's authorities.

In December last year, Ms. Yeoh met with Daw Aung San Suu Kyi at her lakeside house in Rangoon, Burma after her final release on 13 November 2010.

Burma's pro-democracy icon and Nobel Peace laureate Daw Aung San Suu Kyi was arrested in 1989 and detained under house arrest for more than 15 years.

The lady, which has been filmed in Thailand, Britain and France, was due to be released in October this year.
