YANGON (Xinhua) - Entrepreneurs from Myanmar and Malaysia will hold a business meeting in Yangon next week to seek ways of promoting bilateral cooperation in various sectors, an official daily reported today.
The session will take place on next Thursday between the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) and a visiting Malaysian economic delegation led by the Tan Chong Group, said the New Light of Myanmar.
In March last year, a similar Malaysian business delegation visited Myanmar, during which a wide range of cooperation was sought in areas of electronic devices, information and technology and agriculture.
In the latest development, Malaysian entrepreneurs have introduced their palm oil to the Myanmar market through a product seminar and exhibition held in Yangon.
According to official statistics, bilateral trade of the two countries in the fiscal year 2009-10 amounted to $312 million.
Malaysia stood as Myanmar's 6th largest foreign trade partner, trailing Thailand, Singapore, China, India and Hong Kong region.
