The death toll from the devastating earthquake and tsunamis that hit northeastern Japan on Friday has passed 3,300. More than 6,700 people remain missing.
In Miyagi Prefecture, 1,619 people have been confirmed dead and 1,219 are missing.
Iwate Prefecture has confirmed 1,193 deaths, and says 3,318 are still missing. Fukushima has 506 confirmed deaths and 2,200 missing, and Aomori has 3 deaths and 1 missing.
In the Kanto region, dozens of people have died in the disaster, including 19 in Ibaraki and 7 in Tokyo.
