18 December 2010: Chin political parties – the Chin National Party and the Chin Progressive Party have agreed to speak in one voice in the making of the state constitution. This was decided on 15 December at the Chin National Party office in Yangon, in Burma.
Chin National Party, General Secretary Salai Ceubikthawng said, “We agreed to cooperate to work for the Chin people and speak in one voice in the making of the state constitution.”
The two political parties will try to include essential laws and to eliminate laws that go against the people of Chin state.
The meeting was attended by Salai Ceubikthawng, General Secretary and Salai Thiamukthang, Secretary (2) of the CNP, U Daihthun, Secretary (1), U Seinhtung, Secretary (2) and U Vanbuang, Treasurer of CPP.
The leaders of the two political parties will meet again in the last week of December to discuss detailed works in hand. They will invite the Ethnic National Development Party (ENDP), which won one seat in Matupi Township to cooperate with them.
“A Parliament seat is not the most important thing and making the state constitution is essential for our state and we need to be united for that,” said Salai Ceubikthawng.
In the 7 November election in Burma, the Chin National Party won in nine constituencies. The Chin Progressive Party won 11 seats, the USDP-18 and the Ethnic National Development Party - one, in three parliamentary seats in Chin state. - Khonumthung News.
