NUDP step backward to contest in November general elections

A represent Karenni people in Karenni state the National Unity and Development Party (NUDP) will not contest in Burma's forthcoming national elections on November 7.

The NUDP have been threaten by the Burmese proxy party the Union Solidarity and Development Party with the local authorities to their operations, including banning of private parties and organization not to formed parties in Karenni state that has been threaten before the parties were formed.

The chairperson of the Karenni National Youth Organisation, Sun Shine said, "They (NUDP) decided not to contest in Burma's 2010 election and not to do anything whicl belonged to the election then they closed all their offices."

The NUDP has not yet officially announced by the Burma's Union Election Commission (EC), however it seemed the party dissolved as it did not register as a political party for the November general election, according to the source close to the Party.

The NUDP is canceled because the are continually facing a range of difficulties that threaten their operations, the USDP with the local authorities have closed the NUDP chairman's own private business sectors and forced to sign members a guarantee not to get in touch with the Karenni Natinal Progressive Party. The office in Deemawso were closed.

The NUDP was formed independently by Oo Mi Reh Myint party chairman and Oo Mi Reh (Yet Aung) secretary. Most youths in Karenni state have encouraged the party. Meanwhile, it party planned to campaign with strong Kantarawaddy youth in Karenni state.

Khon Myo Minlatt, a politician who watch close on the Karenni politics and also known as the Karenni National Community of Canada (KNCC) said.

"The USDP will not win the contest in 2010 if NUDP is going to cotest in Karenni state. They know they might be lost the contest for the general election and they are afraided of the public candidates. That is why they systematically sisturbing the parties."

Forming the NUDP are necessary for the Karenni people in Karenni State to represent the state in the future. The idea is not to oppose other parties, said Oo Mi Reh Yet Aung, a secretary of the NUDP.

The junta’s Election Commission on July 5 allowed the National Unity and Development Party (NUDP) in Kayah state to contest in this year’s elections, issuing it with the registration number 40 and it was formed independently by Oo Mi Reh Myint party chairman and Oo Mi Reh (Yet Aung) secretary.
