Mungpi during the Norwegian Contest
Mung Pi has becomed well-known and dramatically drawn the attention of Chin people all over the world after saying 'I am from Chin State, Burma' during the interviews, along with his bandmates.
In recent weeks, Chin email groups have been flooded with words of surprises and praises, congratulating him for his talent and efforts in taking steps forward this far as a Chin national coming from military-ruined Burma, one of the poorest countries in the world.
Mr. Sui Awi from Norway said: "We are very proud of Mung Pi for what he has done. As a young lad, he is hardworking and committed to what he is after. We pray that God will continue to guide him for our people in the future."
A family friend, Thang Ning Kee from Canada, praised him, saying Mung Pi has been diligent and focused on what he is doing since his childhood.
Mung Pi, of Suangpi village in Tiddim Township of Burma, is currently living in Trondheim, Norway, with his parents Rev. Thang Khan Thawn and Pi Dim Khen Cing, and two sisters. The whole family came as refugees to Norway from Dehli, India in 2008 under the UNHCR resettlement programme
Mung Pi and his bandmates are said to have worked hard rehearsing their performance as the 'Norway's Got Talent' programme is only in the beginning stage.
