Myanmar Prime Minister General Thein Sein met with visiting delegation of the Communist Party of China (CPC), led by Wang Jiarui, head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, in Nay Pyi Taw Thursday.
Present at the meeting were Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Ye Dabo and Secretary of the Union Solidarity and Development Association (USDA) of Myanmar U Htay Oo among others.
Conveying Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao's intimate greetings and good wishes to Thein Sein, Wang said China and Myanmar are friendly neighbors with their traditional ties long standing.
In recent years, there maintained frequent contacts at high level with mutual political trust continuously increasing and economic and trade cooperation making obvious achievements, he said, adding that the Sino-Myanmar relations have deepened.
He stressed that the Chinese side highly appreciated the traditional friendship with Myanmar, regarding Myanmar as always a good neighbor, good partner and good friend.
He expressed wishes to take the opportunity of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Myanmar to continuously push the neighborly and friendly ties between the two countries to a new high.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Thein Sein expressed welcome to Wang and his entourage, requesting Wang to convey his sincere greetings to Chinese Premier Wen.
Thein Sein said for the 60 years since Myanmar and China forged diplomatic relations, the two countries dealt friendily, assisted each other with the two countries' traditional and friendly ties continuously developing.
Noting that at present, the two sides have gradually launched cooperation in projects of hydroelectric power and natural gas pipeline, he believes that such major cooperation projects would play an active role in the development of Myanmar's economy and bring about closer ties under common concern of leaders of the two countries.
Thein Sein also thanked China for its support and assistance rendered by China for many years, holding that Myanmar would as always firmly abide by "One China" policy.
On the same day, Wang also met with USDA Secretary Htay Oo and Myanmar Foreign Minister U Nyan Win separately.
At the invitation of Htay Oo, Wang arrived in Myanmar on Wednesday for the goodwill visit.
