The exile Burmese based in India have resumed aggressive protests against the Burmese junta for its biased electoral laws.
Nearly 80Burmese national gathered in front of the Burmese Embassy office in New Delhi on March 19 and shouted slogans against the junta. They also painted the wall of the embassy office and raised voices for the immediate release of Nobel laureate Aung San Suu Kyi and other political prisoners.
The protesters carried placards condemning the SPDC chief Than Shwe, and also demanding a free, fair and inclusive election in the coming days.
Soon the protestors were detained by the New Delhi police and took them to Chanakyapuri police station. Till the evening, most of them were released except 25. They might be produced in the court on Saturday.
Speaking to this writer from New Delhi, a senior Burmese exile politician informed that among those arrested, there was also a Buddhist monk. He informed that the program was organized secretly and hence the Burmese embassy officials found it shocking.
“We want the Burmese 2008 constitution to be reviewed before the polls. Moreover, the electoral laws declared by the junta recently must be withdrawn, as it has made ticks to bar Suu Kyi,” asserted the Burmese politician belonged to Suu Kyi led National League for Democracy.
