Police detain 15 Myanmars for drug trafficking

SABAK BERNAM: The police on Saturday detained 15 Myanmar nationals who posed as fishermen to sell heroin to locals at two fishing platforms in Bagan Sungai Besar here.

The illegals were picked up in a police operation, 'Ops Tapis Khas', mounted at 7am.

From the foreigners, the police seized 57.5 grammes of heroin and RM800, believed to be proceeds from the sale of drugs.

Initial police investigations revealed that the 15 were linked to a drug trafficking syndicate that had been operating here for the past six months.

Sabak Bernam police chief Supt Noor Mushar Mohamad said the Myanmars posed as fishermen to sell the drugs to locals.

He said that during the raid, the suspects, who did not have travel documents, were busy gambling and tried to escape when approached by the police. - Bernama
