25 people infected with A/H1N1 in Yangon

YANGON, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) -- A total of 25 people have been infected with new influenza A/H1N1 in Myanmar's Yangon in addition to the four in Falam, the country's western Chin state, according to a statement of the Health Department Thursday.

Of them, 21 child patients are from hostels in Dagon Myothit township-North, while the other four from Mingaladon township.

Besides, 26 others are suspected of carrying with the virus but not confirmed yet.

These patients are kept in quarantine and are undergoing treatment at some special hospitals and measures are being taken by scanning those who are in contact with the patients, the statement said.

The prior four patients in Chin state are in good condition, the statement confirmed.

Myanmar last reported that there were 69 A/H1N1 patients in the country as of January this year since the outbreak of the disease worldwide in April last year.

The heath department has urged the people to follow the preventive measures outlined against the virus in order to avoid the spread of virus in the public and to take part in the campaign to prevent the disease.

There is no flu death case reported in the country.

Myanmar reported the first case of new flu A/H1N1 in the country on June 27 with a 13-year-old girl who developed the symptoms after coming back home from Singapore a day earlier.
